Guidelines for articles

If possible, articles (and other material) should be submitted in ASCII format by e-mail or on a PC diskette. Should the material include symbols or special characters, it is advisable to also provide a paper copy of the material by fax or post. If the material contains a lot of special characters or formulae, it is advisable to use LaTeX format (article style).

Articles should follow the established style and practice of scientific magazines (the editor reserves the right to change manuscripts to improve clarity, to conform to style and to correct grammar). Articles should be structured as follows:

  1. Title
  2. Author’s name
  3. Abstract (summary of the contents, max. 100 words)
  4. The text, possibly with subheadings. Length preferably not more than 2,000 words. If your article is longer, please consult the Editor in advance.
  5. Possibly a list of references, numbered in the same order as referred to in the text.
  6. Author’s contact information and a description of 1–2 sentences.

Articles often include photographs. Line art pictures can be submitted in electronic EPS format (please also include a paper copy). In order to keep the costs down, FOTONI will start out with a relatively modest level of technology, which means that photographs with many shades and small details may not reproduce very well.
